Manon Mouland is a first person account of five significant years of the protagonist’s life. Manon is a small town loner who is confounded by a sense of rootlessness, and lit with a passion for creating art.

The book opens with her father dying, leaving her utterly alone in the world. But upon his death, Manon discovers the existence of an estranged family. Having been raised as a lonely only child, by a single Dad, this is something she always longed for. She finds love, loses it, finds another love and leaves him, all the while creating bold works of art. Thrown into the mix of love and loss is the archetypical ‘reversal of fortune’ element.

The novel is set in Quebec, New York and Connecticut, with richly described scenes placing readers into the spaces that Manon occupies. It is replete with art references, and illuminates the creative process. Readers glimpse into the mind of a visual artist and experience her passions. Through Manon’s prolific output we see her progress not only as an artist but as a person.

Bending genres of commercial fiction, women’s fiction and romance, this story is most likely to be enjoyed by anyone who has ever struggled to discover their own talents and their place in the world.
