Beyond its rhythm, the typographical appearance of free verse informs the reader that what lies in store for him is not information or reasoning but emotion.

Jorge Luis Borges

Forever Longing to be Kissed

Wandering and wondering

Where this road leads me

Should I have chosen the other one

The scary one less trampled on,

It sure as hell beats me

Have I chosen or was I led

Pulled and pushed along the path

Not really planning it ahead

Not bothering to do the math,

My head turned this way and then that

Gleefully running to the next thing

The path ahead always urged me on

I was never left a-lingering

To appreciate the wine and song,

On the horizon always a new dawn

Seventy-six milestones I have passed

Some were lost, some signposts missed

Was turning left at one time right

Did that choice bypass something great,

Or did it save me from heartache,

Forever longing to be kissed
